Walking

Introducing Victoria Walks
We are an exciting new non-profit organisation funded and supported by VicHealth to promote walking for everyday purposes (to shops, school, around the neighbourhood etc).  We want to create more vibrant, supportive, strong and sustainable communities.

What does Victoria Walks do?
We support local communities to make their streets better for walking (see our website for some great ideas).  This can be as easy as planting a tree, having a street party or forming a Walking Action Group (WAG) to bring real changes to your neighbourhood (such as improving crossings and slowing down traffic).

Why walk?
More Victorians getting back on their feet means healthier and happier communities, vibrant local economies and a greener planet.  Every journey begins with the first step!

What makes your neighbourhood tick?
What do you like about your street?  What are the features, attractions and highlights?
What are the eyesores, hazards and impediments?
Why not take a camera with you the next time you’re out and about?  We’d love to have photos and stories about where you live.  How about getting your friends and neighbours involved?  We’ll be at the Sydney Road Festival and would love to have a display of your thoughts and pictures.  If we get enough, we can put these up on our website for the world to see.

You can send photos / writings / poetry etc to cchew@victoriawalks.org.au;
or Victoria Walks c/o VicHealth, PO BOX 154, Carlton South 3053.

Watch the short, quirky videos on our website.

Register before 31 Jan 2010 to go in the draw to win great prizes!

Help us spread the word by telling your friends and family.
